NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING (NDT)
Our NDT (non-destructive testing) program explores a range of testing methods that enable inspectors to capture and evaluate the properties of components and materials without causing damage. These skills can be applied both in and out of the water and allow students to objectively analyze and evaluate results based on unbiased facts.
The program begins in the classroom and introduces students to the scientific principles, operations, calibration, engineering, and reporting styles of various nondestructive testing disciplines. This knowledge is transferred to the barge on site, where students conduct a range of inspections from above and below the surface using disciplines such as Ultrasonic Inspection (UI), Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT) and Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT). For each inspection performed, students submit a complete report to the lead NDT instructor to verify accuracy and conclusions.
